Parents and employees should assume school will start as planned unless they receive notice otherwise.  Official notice of school closure or delay will be provided through the school website, School Messenger, KCEN – TV Ch. 6, KWTX – TV CH. 10, LISD Facebook and LISD Twitter.

 

In the event of school closure due to bad weather; students, teachers, aides, clerical staff, food service personnel, bus drivers and administrators shall not report to work that day.  They will make up this day as designated by the district calendar.  Custodians, maintenance, and transportation personnel, other than bus drivers and monitors will be expected to report to work for duty as usual.  Should weather conditions be such that an employee cannot make it safely to work, he/she should notify their supervisor immediately.

 

In the event of a delayed start to school, school will start 2 hours later than the regularly scheduled start time. Buses will run approximately 2 hours later than a regular day.  Breakfast will be served 2 hours later than the regular serve time for breakfast.  The intent of the 2 hour delay in the start of school is to provide bus drivers extra time and allow for daylight pick-up.  Bus drivers and monitors should report to work as directed by the Transportation Director.  All other employees should report to work at their regular time.  Should weather conditions be such that an employee cannot make it safely to work, he/she should notify their supervisor immediately.

 

Weather conditions will be monitored overnight by the Transportation Director and central office staff.  Transportation department staff and central office staff will be checking road conditions beginning at 3:00 AM.

 

The Superintendent will make the decision to cancel based on information gathered from the transportation department and central office staff as well as local news weather forecast.   The decision will be made between 5:00 am – 6:00 am.
